- They are bulkier and heavier: Low energy density compared to other lithium-ion types: at the same voltage and capacity, LifePo4 is bigger and heavier. This makes them less suitable for applications where weight and space are a concern.
- Cost you more: LifePo4 are more expensive than lithium-ion and obviously lead acid battery in terms of first time investment.
- Longer time to charge: please have a plan when use LifePo4: it takes longer to charge LifePo4 batteries than other lithium-ion chemistry, therefore you must have plan and think in advance.
- Low voltage: they have lower voltage compared to other lithium-ion types, making them not suitable for high voltage applications.
Key take-away: LifePo4 is ideal for safety and strong power. However, they are more expensive (but cheap in long term), might not suitable for high voltage system and some light weighted / unspacious applications.
